Body Synergy uses a holistic, movement-based approach to assessment and treatment of orthopedic, neurological, and vestibular conditions, including but not limited to:
We also work with other medical conditions that do not fit neatly in any category but may result in persistent pain, muscle weakness and fatigue such as post viral syndromes, Ehler’s Danlos Syndrome (EDS) or hypermobility conditions, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), Fibromyalgia, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS).
You can expect a one-on-one session with a Physical Therapist who will take the time to understand your symptoms, your goals, your lifestyle, and your medical history and who will work with you to develop a treatment plan specifically designed for you. Physical Therapy treatments will usually include a combination of manual treatment, targeted and functional exercises, movement pattern retraining, and working with you to develop a home program.
Depending on your goals and symptoms, your treatments may also include balance training, sport-specific training, vestibular exercises and repositioning maneuvers (i.e. Epley maneuver), pelvic floor strengthening, and relaxation/breathing techniques.
Our therapists create customized exercise programs for each individual with an emphasis on functional exercises that replicate the activity or skill that needs improvement. We often create programs using the paradigm of Applied Functional Science to help facilitate improved chain reaction movement and restore our body’s natural movement patterns.
A note on manual therapy: the soft tissues in our body (muscles, ligaments, fascia, joint capsules, and nerves) require good circulation and fluid movement to allow us to move functionally and optimally. Chronic soft tissue tension, adhesions, impingement and scar tissue can limit range of motion and can create compensatory movement patterns that stress other areas of the body. Therapists at Body Synergy utilize various manual therapy techniques to enhance overall circulation, improve soft tissue pliability and mobility, and reduce muscle tension to facilitate better joint proprioception.
We look forward to the opportunity to help you reach your goals!
